'Opening the glass box' -

Climatic adaptation of the office building typology in the Mediterranean.

From a theoretical starting point which identifies fundamental environmental concepts and new global office trends, this research examines the local context by evaluating the performance challenges of the common practice in Israel against the potentials of the local climate to improve it.

The analytic parts then move between different levels of optimization, from basic to advanced, in which the potential of each level to enhance performance and comfort within the office space is assessed.

Finally in the light of the observations gathered throughout this research, the dynamic open air office approach is brought forward as a unique opportunity for the office building typology to reconnect to the local Israeli climate and substantially improve both performance and comfort.
